BTW Logo

The conference on Database Systems for Business, Technology and Web (BTW) is the most important database conference in Germany. Since 1985 it serves as a central forum for scientific and industrial exchange, offers demo and student programs as well as tutorials and workshops on various current topics. The relevance of BTW and its development are described by T. Härder and E. Rahm in their article 30 Jahre "Datenbanksysteme für Business, Technologie und Web (2015) as well as A. Blaser in Die BTW im Wandel der Datenbank-Zeiten (1995).

A complete list of previous BTWs can be found on the webpages of the Gesellschaft für Informatik. The conference proceedings can be found at dblp.uni-trier.de.

A central topic will not be present at this year's BTW conference Rather, the diversity of the "database world" is in the foreground. The focus is therefore on the topics:

  • Query processing and index structures
  • Implementation and architecture of database systems
  • Parallel and distributed data processing in database systems
  • Data management for scientific applications
  • Performance analyzes and benchmarks
  • Database systems and programming languages
  • Knowledge Management and Data Mining
  • Text mining and text analysis
  • Workflow systems
  • Data cleaning and data integration
  • Main memory databases
  • Privacy and security
  • Database systems for data streams, web and graph data
  • Big Data and NoSQL databases
  • Interactive data analysis and visualization
  • Data management in the cloud
  • Provenance management
  • Machine learning for and with databases
